Why must we read ???
Do you read in a continuous and organized way? Have you noticed a change in your life after reading a book? Do you feel any difference between those who read and those who do not?
Reading is like travelling, and travelling develops intelligence as the great French writer Emile Zola tells us. One can travel without any means of transport at their disposal. Yes, there is no need for going to the airport, riding a boat, or even taking the road. Yes, again, there is no need for a visa or a passport. Through reading books, travelling has become immediately accessible to everyone.

In the United States, a study has shown that the common point between a hundred of people who are successful in their lives is that they read at least 1 to 2 books every week; that is, the average American reads more than 50 books per year. Isn’t that amazing?
In France, the country of literature and great writers, it has been recently found out that the French do not read as much as before. According to TNS-SofresPrès, 2 out of 3 of French people (64%) read less than five books per year. What’s more, 30% of the French do not read due to the influence of new technologies. Therefore, to handle this alarming situation, France has recently launched some initiatives to promote reading.
One of these interesting initiatives is ‘Read at the Beach.’ The latter gives people free access to over 12,000 books, 12 cabins and 400 desks.
More interestingly, though, they have a large selection of books catering for all ages and tastes; libraries propose documentaries, novels, comics, self-help books, etc.
Also, readers have everything they need to make their reading fun: from librarians and to a computerized card catalog system.
